A New Plan to Save and Strengthen the NHS
The NHS is under huge pressure. Many people struggle to get GP or dental appointments. Hospital waits are long, staff are overwhelmed, and care for serious conditions like cancer lags behind other countries. As the population grows older, things will only get worse unless the NHS changes. A new plan offers a bold way forward.
The plan focuses on three major changes:
- Moving care into communities with local health centres and easier access to GPs
- Going digital, so patients can book, manage, and monitor care using the NHS App
- Preventing illness, not just treating it, through better public health and early support
The plan tackles unfair differences in care, aiming to improve services for poorer and rural communities. It also strengthens mental health support, helps children’s health, and uses new tools like AI and research into how our inherited health information can affect us.
The NHS will also support its workers more, give better training, and use money more wisely by focusing on care that truly helps people.
This plan was shaped by the voices of thousands of staff and patients. It is about building a modern and fair NHS that provides faster, better, and more personal care for everyone.
