Lewisham has one of the highest rates of malaria in the UK, with the vast majority of cases seen in African diaspora children and adults returning from travel to visit friends and relatives in West Africa.

Africans Against Malaria are sharing guidance on the steps you can take before, during, and after your trip.

While many people enjoy warmer summer weather, hot weather can cause some people to become unwell through overheating (becoming uncomfortably hot), dehydration, heat exhaustion and heatstroke.

Here are some actions you can take to stay safe in hot weather.

The NHS app allows you to: order repeat prescriptions, view your GP records and test results, quickly check symptoms, view upcoming GP appointments, contact your GP practice online

Patients with a potentially deadly illness will be diagnosed sooner thanks to this new life-saving patient safety initiative that was rolled out nationwide on 23rd September 2025 to prevent avoidable deaths. GPs across England to take ‘3 strikes and rethink approach’ after 3 appointments.
